Q: Toyota Camry?
I have a 1990 Toyota Camry and the power light stay’s on does anyone know why & what to do about it ??

A: YOU SHOULD GET THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED AND CHECK FOR ANY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS CODES AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM TRULY IS.

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

Q: toyota camry?
i have an 87 toyota camry with only like 84000 miles on it. the car used to run fine but its been sitting in my dtiveway for about 3 -4 years. the car does not run or anything we can barelyt start it without ether. we got a new fuel filter and new battery and also changed the spark plugs/ checked the fuses if anyone has any ideas i would appreciate it.

A: Gasoline does not last forever… There are additives to put in it before storing it for that length of time… You need to purge the fuel and get some fresh octane to that engine. If the engine is cranking (trying to start but won’t) this is likely the problem… If you have new battery and it’s not doing anything when you turn the key it’s likely that the starter has gone bad.

Q: Toyota Camry Brake lights do not work, even after replacing the bulbs and fuce?
I have a 1989 Toyota Camry and my brake lights do not work. I checked the fuses ( all of them! under hood and inside driver panel) also replaced all the bulbs with new. I still have no brake lights and the dash light indicator continuously shows a little car with the back light problem. What can I do? I would like to know if there is a stop switch attached to the brake pedal and if so how do I check it and/or replace if it is bad. Can I get a diagram and directions on this part…I think it is called an actuator switch? Also, if anyone has any other useful information as to what may be the culprit please let me know. Possible a relay or a link?

A: Replacing the switch is simple. Just a REAL pain in the @$$ to get to.

ADDED:
Check the relays under the hood in the power distribution box.
You may be able to swap it out with the rear window defogger relay.

Q: Why Toyota Camry 99 has a different color in bumpers and side mirrors?
I recently bought a 99 Toyota Camry. The bumpers and mirrors has a different color. Is this by design? Or the color faded up? If it’s by design then what would be the paint code for bumpers? The paint code label on the door says 4M9/FB40.
I need to buy a driver side mirror on EBay, but don’t know my paint code for mirror.
Please help. I’ll pick the best answer later.

A: bad paint or faded paint

use the color code to get the true color and then proceed from there.

Q: Can I switch my newly bought Toyota Camry with another same Toyota Camry if my old one has problems?
Hi. I just got a new Toyota Camry, and it has a slight problem that I am concerned about. I’ve had it for about 2 weeks, and I noticed it had this problem, and I was just wondering if I could switch it out with another Toyota Camry. Can anyone tell me?

A: If you bought it from a non dealer then you are out of luck. Otherwise head to the dealer and mention toyota support and tell about the problem. They should be glad to answer. I have been looking at their website and it doesn’t look like they would be able to send you a new one, but I guaratee your dealer or possibly your insurance company will either cover the payment for the repair or trade in. Make sure you be stern when you go to the dealer and say that their are problems with your car since you purchased and that you thought it was going to go away and that you demand to have it fixed. That should do the trick :D good luck

Q: How can you tell the difference between regular toyota camry and hybrid?
I’m 18 and I want to get toyota camry but I don’t know the difference between those two. Is it expensive? If is too much to afford then I will just search for something else. But I want a toyota or infinit model.

A: There are a few ways to tell the difference without looking at the VIN# and/or opening the Hood.

First, from the front, the grille is chrome – the whole grille is chrome. The only other Camry model that has any chrome on the grille is the XLE model and it is only a chrome surrounding the grille.

Second, on the side there are Hybrid badges on the front fenders just in front of the front doors.

From the rear, the taillights are different. In all of the other models, the taillights are red and white, with the part on the trunk lid being red. On the Hybrid models, the tail light portion on the trunk lid is white/clear as well. If you look on the rear deck behind the rear seats, there is a rather large vent that stands up over the rear deck. This is the vent to cool the hybrid batteries and is only found on the Hybrid models.

As for cost, there is a cost premium of between $0 and $5000 depending on what model you’re comparing the hybrid to. The reason I say this is that if you’re looking at a fully equipped Hybrid with navigation and leather with moonroof, it is actually a few hundred dollars less than a comparibly equipped XLE V6 Camry. Even on the more basic model of the Hybrid, the most comparible model is the more basic V6 XLE as well and there is only about a $1500 premium for the Hybrid.

However, most people compare the Hybrid to the 4cyl LE model in which case there is about a $5000 premium. It really isn’t a fair comarison though as you get quite a bit more equipment on the Hybrid that isn’t available on the LE such as the Smart-key start and entry, Climate control and performance more comparible to the V6 engine model of the Camry.

Hope this helps.

Q: Wha’ts the difference between the Toyota Camry and the Camry Hybrid?
What’s the difference between a regular Toyota Camry and the Toyota Camry Hybrid? Which is the better buy?

A: Haha, I think I answered your question about the Corolla and Camry! :)

-First off, when people think of Hybrib, MPG is the only thing on their mind. Not power, just the money to fill up a tank.

-This might be helpful: Here are the models of the Camry. LE, SE, XLE, and Hybrid. The are listed from lowest price to highest price.

-But anyways, the “REGULAR” 2008 Camry gets 21 MPG in the city and 31 on the highway. Those ratings go for the LE, SE, and XLE models.

-The next model is the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid, which achieves 33 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on highways.

–Here’s some more info.

-The LE has a 2.4 L, 158 Horsepower engine with either 5 speed manual or 5 speed automatic transmission.
-The SE also has a 2.4 L, 158 Horsepower engine with either 5 speed manual or 5 speed automatic transmission.
-The XLE has a 3.5L V6, 24 valve, 268 horsepower engine with a 6 speed automatic transmission. This is the most loaded and power model.
-The HYBRID has a 2.4-liter, 147 horsepower engine along with an electric motor that creates combined output totaling 187 horsepower.

Q: Toyota Camry factory made music system needs a usb installation and an ipod dock?
I have a 2009 Toyota Camry and i live in the gulf. My music system is factory made. I need to know if i can connect a USB to it and may be an ipod as well. Plzz reply and thxxx.

A: You can use this one to connect an iPod to the original radio. It also gives you an aux input for other mp3 sources.

Q: How do I increase gas mileage of my Toyota Camry?
I Bought a used 2001 Toyota Camry under the impression that it gives good gas mileage (about 24 mpg in city and 28 mpg on highways). However, I’m shocked to note that my camry gives about 17mpg in city. Does anyone know the cause and / or how to get this fixed.

A: Make sure the tires are inflated to the factory specs and make sure that the air filter is clean, spark plugs aren’t fouled..basically just get a tune up. That’s usually all you need.

Q: 1998 toyota camry and whenever I make a right turn there’s a dash light that comeson during the turnwhat is it
its 1998 toyota camry and when ever I make a right turn there is a red dash light that comes on only when I turn right. What is this warning light???? The warning light is at the bottom right side of my dash below the RPM gauge.

A: Turn the ignition on with the engine off and see which light you think it is all the lights should light up for a couple seconds . Sound like your brake fluid could be a hair low and the float sensor kicks the light on for a second add a little dot 3 brake fluid .

Q: What is the 1992 toyota camry wheel specs?
I have stock steel wheels from a 1992 toyota camry LE. They are 14inch, and currently have Size 195/70 R14 91T tires on them. I know they can fit nissans, but what else? I want to be able to tell people the spacing, and what not. Please help!

A: Unfortunately, a dealership really has no need for those type of specs. We look at the VIN of the car, look up the wheel and get the part #. We just don’t worry about the specs. BUT! Here they are:
Torque spec 76 ft/lbs
Wheel size 14×5.5 JJ
Bolt circle 114.3 mm
Offset 45 mm
5 lugs (but then you knew that!)
pilot diameter : 60 mm

Hope this helps.

Q: How do you jump start a 1989 Toyota Camry using a vehicle with a side terminal battery?
Hi;

We are trying to jumpstart a 1989 Toyota Camry, but the battery we are jumping it with (that of a 1996 Buick Regal) has side post battery construction. We cannot find the negative end; we kind of need it for this to work. How can we jump start it?

Thanks

A: as far as i know batteries were built the same , one terminal is positive and the other is negative. Not to be mistaken to know w/c is positve or nagative. Use voltmeter tester , there u have it.Do you know how to use the tester to test the batt. Tester has two leads, the red stands for positve , and the black stands for negative or common. Now if the polariy of the batt. you have is not visible at all..here’s how to use ur tester(vom). simply connect the two leads to the batt. terminal..pretending you’re using a digital meter ha. so the reading must be positive , if not revese it..and if reads positive..there u are..you are at the right connection.red is pos. and black is neg or common…
hope can help…

Q: How to change interior light in 96 toyota camry?
Interior light in my toyota camry is not working.
Is it easy to replace the bulb? How to do it?

A: You remove the lense and take the old bulb out and put a new one in.

Q: In a toyota camry hybrid, when does the electric motor turns on? Can it happen at speeds higher than 30mph?
Can the toyota camry run on electric mode if I’m on a highway?

A: I’ll note that I’m basing my answer on a Toyota Prius, which uses the same THS as the hybrid Camry…

Because of how the “transmission” is set up, for speeds over 42mph the gasoline engine must be turning. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it is burning fuel, though. You could be going downhill at 60mph, and neither the gasoline engine nor the electric motor will be propelling you, for example. The gasoline engine is kept at the most efficient RPM for your power demands, and any extra acceleration or power will come from the electric motor as needed. The gasoline engine will be kicked up in RPM if more power is required for a longer time period, and if it is producing too much power for your traveling demands, that excess power goes back into the battery for later use.

So basically, for what most people will see for highway speeds and terrain (interstates/freeways), yes your gasoline engine will be on, but it will be operating much more efficiently than if it didn’t have the electric to assist it at speed.

Since much of my highway driving has been local state highways with speed limits of about 35mph, I can get in some good stretches with just the electric motor. :)

Q: What grade of motor oil does a 1999 Toyota Camry take?
Going to be changing the oil in a 1999 Toyota Camry this evening. What grade of motor oil do I get for the ‘99?

I’ve changed the oil in a 2007 Corolla and it takes 5w-30. I’m looking for clarification on what type of oil to get for the ‘99 Camry. I’m guessing 10w-30 but want to make sure.

Best answer should have a link to an authority site (Toyota forum, etc.) to verify that the information is legit. Thanks!

A: 5W-30 is recommended for all temperatures in your Camry. 10W-30 may also be used in warmer temperatures.
